Cajun boy meets Cali Girl…

Every photographer that doesn’t live by the ocean probably dreams of getting to do a wedding by the ocean. When my friend Randy called me up and asked if I would photograph his wedding in Santa Cruz, my immediate response, “Heck yes I will.” And yes, the venue met every expectation I had and then some.

Then there was the added bonus of photographing the wedding of a dear friend of mine. I had not met his fiance before, but it didn’t take long to realize Randy had a keeper! Linsday was sweet, confident, and JUST right for Randy.

Their wedding was flawless, surrounded by tons of friends, family and of course the wedding wouldn’t be complete without some cajun dancing since Randy is from the Bayou’s of Louisiana.

So from the lands of Cajun Country to the shores of California, this couple was truly a joy to work with a made for an amazing experience for me.

Randy and Lindsay, I wish you all the love, joy, happiness and of course tons of cajufornian babies :) Love you guys!

One “hail” of a wedding :)

(Warning: this is pic HEAVY. I normally don’t blog this many pictures, but I just COULD not pick my favorites from this wedding, I apologize ahead of time for the major amounts of pictures. Hey, at least they are amazing!)

Alyson and Ben will NEVER forget their wedding even if they tried. They will especially remember the moment it started hailing golf ball sized hail with torential winds. Hey it was memorable right? Plus everyone could say it was a “hail” of a wedding. Ok I won’t say that again, since I seem to be overusing the term :)

About 5 minutes after meeting Alyson, I immediately just wanted to be her friend. She was so much fun to work with. That may be why I posted so many pictures. She was up for anything! Ben is definitely going to have his hands full, he’s gonna love it! So Alyson, when you read this, remember you only live three hours from me, come be my friend :) lol.

Ben was definitely camera shy. I don’t know why though, he took GREAT pictures. He seemed to be less shy once Alyson was around since she was the pro of picture taking.

Great family, great couple, great wedding and great pictures. We had so much fun shooting this wedding, I wish we could do it all over again! Well except for the hail part! It didn’t matter if it were hailing, snowing, flooding or a tornado, nothing was going to get this couple down.

Congrats Alyson and Ben! You are a fantastic couple and it was a sheer joy to work with you both!

Tara and Craig

I am currently on vacation in Phoenix, AZ, but HAD to take a little break to blog about a wedding. It’s 116 degrees outside anyway. It’s nice to sit in the AC a while and remember such a great wedding.

I have known Tara for several years now and anyone that knows her will say she’s probably one of the sweetest people in the universe. She oozes sunshine and rainbows. All day of his wedding, I kept telling Craig how lucky he was to have such an amazing wife. I bet Tara is a pretty lucky lady too!

The couple’s family were definitely close and it was a joyful day for everyone. I was so taken by Tara’s mom when she put on Tara’s necklace and was so overwhelmed with emotion and happiness for her daughter she just started to cry, pray and thank God for such an amazing day. Of course, the water works started for me too, but I blame the pregnancy hormones :)

I was so blessed to be apart of this wedding for such a special couple. Tara and Craig have a great future and I am excited that I got to be there from the beginning of their marriage!

Abby and Wade

Abby and Wade: A real Montana wedding. I love the traditional Montana weddings. Complete with horeshoe and antler decorations, cowboy hats and boots and not to forget a big pig roast! LOVED this wedding!

Abby booked me at the bridal affaire about 8 months prior. I could tell from the beginning we would have  a lot of fun. She was entergetic and fun. Wade was quiet and the typical Montana gentleman. Their wedding party loved them and they made memories that Wade and Abby will remember for the rest of their lives.

My favorite part of the whole thing may have been the looks I was getting photographing Abby’s shoes. I won’t lie, I have a thing about shoes.  Abby thought I was crazy, until she saw the pics and of course, she loved them. Gotta say, the girl knows how to pic some shoes!

Destination: Philadelphia

The city of brotherly love did not disappoint! Probably one of the most friendly cities I have ever visited. Of course, we weren’t there for the Philly Cheese Steaks or even the Liberty Bell, but to celebrate and photograph the wedding of Eric and Merrylee.

Eric is a palentologist and Merrylee is a midwife. You definitely couldn’t find a couple with more unique passions. Their main passion: each other! I love that Eric gave his groomsmen Fadoras for their groups gifts. You may have to google Fadora (I did), but think Indiana Jones.

I could get used to destination weddings because this was way too much fun! Maybe when Eric and Merrylee have children, they will fly us out for a portrait session. One can only hope :)
